WATCH: COLDPLAY ‘GHOST STORIES’ TRAILER FOR NBC SPECIAL
In a move reminiscent of Justin Timberlake‘s primetime special for The 20/20 Experience, Coldplay just announced they’ll be presenting Ghost Stories in a 60-minute special on NBC the night before the album’s release.
Coldplay: Ghost Stories will feature 360-degree footage from the band’s intimate March performance in L.A., which will be interspersed with a cinematic filmed narrative (wouldn’t it be great if that part involved them literally telling ghost stories?).
In addition to new songs like “Magic” and “Midnight,” the special will include live renditions of past hits like “Viva La Vida,” “Paradise” and “Clocks.” The special airs May 18 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.

COLDPLAY “MIDNIGHT” (GIORGIO MORODER REMIX – PREMIERE)
Midnight‘ is a song written by Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion and Chris Martin of British alternative rock band Coldplay along with producer Jon Hopkins. The song was originally recorded by the band for their sixth studio album ‘Ghost Stories‘. It appears as the fifth track on the album.

COLDPLAY - BEHIND THE SCENES OF THEIR BLOCKBUSTER “MAGIC” VIDEO
Coldplay really upped the visual ante with their Jonas Åkerlund-directed “Magic” video. The circus-themed opus tells the story of a glamorous 1920s-era magician (brought to life by Chinese actress Ziyi Zhang), who finds herself in the middle of an emotional tug-of-war between her abusive husband and charming assistant — both played with great flair by Chris Martin.
The British superstars now invites you behind the scenes of their blockbuster visual with a must-see ‘making of’ documentary. It’s fascinating to watch the video come together and, let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to see Coldplay’s plucky frontman suspended on wires or spinning on a wheel while the star of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon pretends to throw knives at him? Check it out up top.

COLDPLAY: NEW ALBUM OUT ON MAY 19th
Coldplay have officially awoken from their quasi-hibernation. The British rock group will put out their sixth album, Ghost Stories, on May 19th. To announce the release of the record, the band is streaming its second track — the easygoing and typically romantic pop track "Magic." Other than the harder-hitting and anthemic soundtrack cut "Atlas," released last fall to accompany The Hunger Games: Chasing Fire, the band have put out only one new song since the 2011 release of their fifth LP, Mylo Xyloto. That track, "Midnight," was released with no context or hint of an album, though the track list for Ghost Stories confirms it is the nine-song LP's centerpiece, appearing at Number Five. The track curiously showed off Coldplay's chillier side and atypical sounds for the group, including flitting synth lines, minimal EDM buildup and effects obscuring frontman Chris Martin's usually rich vocals.
"Magic" is more of a return to form. Although the track leads with a bass-heavy, almost electronic-inflected groove – not unlike one of Radiohead's moodier tracks – Martin's voice makes it sound like vintage Coldplay. "Call it magic," he sings. "Call it true. Call it magic, when I'm with you." And even though the band includes thoughtful, deeply textured production touches like warbling synths and guitar reverb that lingers a little longer than usual, Martin intones the falsetto "woos" and a catchy "Yes, I do" hook that, along with a lush acoustic guitar buildup in the middle, prove it to be Coldplay through and through. The band has yet to announce live dates other than an opening night performance at Austin's iTunes festival during South by Southwest on March 11th. Fans who cannot attend the Texas gig will be able to watch the performance in a free live stream on iTunes. A "deluxe" version of Ghost Stories will be available at Target with three exclusive tracks. Source : Rolling Stone
